May and June 2012
We morn the recent passing of two Phillips graduates in the months of May and June. Our sincere condolences to their family and friends. Annie and Nanny were faithful participants in the Phillips/Bricks Alumni Association and both attended meetings regularly. Annie Marie served recently as Chaplain and Assistant Chaplain. We were blessed to have them in our midst and will miss their presence and spirit. May they forever rest in peace.

The Phillips/Bricks Alumni Association mourns the loss of one of its school's beloved teachers, Mrs. Ruth Crandol Glover, who died peacefully on May 25, 2010 at her home following a long illness. Mrs. Glover taught Social Studies and History at Phillips until 1972 when it closed. She went on to teach at North Edgecombe High School in Legette until she retired in 1993.
Our deepest condolences are extended to her husband, Mr. James Glover, who also taught at Phillips High School, her daughter Demetrice, son Daniel, two grandchildren Kennedy and Daniel Lee. and a host of friends and relatives. We thank God for allowing her to be in our lives at Phillips and we will miss her dearly!

Class of 1969 - Charlie Spragley
Charley Spragley, age 59, died on March 10, 2010 at his home in Newark, New Jersey. Charlie was the vice president of the class and attended the Class of '69's 40th Class Reunion last May. He was also a renowned member of the Phillips High School basketball team during his high school days. Charlie will be missed by his classmates, who enjoyed seeing him many times over the years at the annual school reunion. Our prayers and condolences to all of his family and friends.

Peter Roberts, Jr., 57, of Tarboro, N.C, died Sunday, September 7, 2008. Peter was the president of the Class of 1969. He was a retired veteran and is survived by his wife Barbara Hill Roberts of the home; three daughters JeneA Campbell of Charlotte, Kim Mott of Philadelphia, Pa., and Angel "Joy" Roberts of the home; son Toranio "T.J." Roberts of Virginia Beach, brother William Roberts of Tarboro and four grandchildren. Our heartfelt sympathies are extended to his family and friends. The memories of Peter will be cherished deeply by his school and classmates.

We regret to report the death of another Phillips High School class member. Sadly, Carolyn Deloris-Ann Whitehead Ransome, 55, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008. Carolyn was a member of the Class of 1971. Our condolences and sympathy to all of her family and friends. Like all classmates we have lost, she will be missed by all of us.

Louis "Dink" Lawrence, 60, of Tarboro, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2008. Lewis was a Phillips graduate from the Class of 1965. Those of you who remember Lewis might remember his bright smile and positive attituted even as he was student who was physically challenged, having to move around the campus of Phillips with his cruches. He rode the bus that traveled along highway 44 from Tarboro through Leggett. Lewis was so cheerful and positive and brought a lot of smiles to his fellow students. He will be remembered fondly by us all.
