PBAA Donation to Phillips Middle School for Football Uniforms

During the Month of August 2010, the Phillips Bricks Alumni Association made a donation of $1,500 to Phillips Middle School to help them with the purchase of football uniforms for this school year.  A letter of appreciation from the Principal,  Mr. Etheridge was read at the September 18th PBAA monthly meeting.  A picture of the team will be taken later at one of their games to post on our website.  Members of our alumni association have also made a committment to attend some of their games to show support for the school and the team.

PBAA Members Participate in Adopt-a-Highway     Cleanup on Sept 18

On Saturday, September 18 six faithful members of PBAA left the monthly meeting at 11:30 am and headed straight for Battleboro-Leggett Highway to participate in the very first adopt-a-highway cleanup.  It was a wonderful sunny day and all enjoyed the mission and purpose to celebrate the memory our former Phillips High School and to give back in community service by cleaning up the litter along our school’s road.    Maurieta Cozart, Helen Hines Hunter, Lillian Thorne, Margaret Hunter, Brenda Pippens Asbury and Roy Watson were the participants in this three hour project.  Following the event, the members shared in a donated lunch and drinks in the yard of one of our Swift Creek friends, Bill and Bettie Knight who live near Battleboro-Legette Road.
The next scheduled cleanup date and time will be  from 7:00 am to 9:00 am December 18,  prior to our monthly meeting which starts at 10:00.    All members and friends of PBAA are encouraged to join us in this community service event on December 18.
